Kyle was born on January 26, 2001. When he was two and a half years old, he was diagnosed with a rare form of a brain tumor called an ependymoma. The doctors immediately admitted him to the hospital and that night the tumor hemorrhaged causing him to have two strokes. As a result, Kyle was moved to PICU in extremely critical condition. The next morning he had surgery. The doctors were able to remove about 75% of the tumor. Recovery was a long process - but to everyone’s surprise, he has done well. This last fall he started the first grade. He loves being picked up in the morning and riding the bus to school to spend the day with his friends. Today, he has a shunt, trach, and a feeding tube. He has had many different chemo treatments, a round of radiation and has been in and out of the hospital many times. These treatments slowed down the growth of the tumor, however, it is now starting to grow again. As a result, Kyle has begun chemo therapy once again.
